Jamaica is perched on top of a massive undersea mountain. The underwater range that supports the island is called, fittingly, as the Jamaica Ridge. This huge underwater range divides the Cayman Trench and Cayman Basin from the Columbian Basin.

The 50-Year-Old Appleton Estate, Jamaica Independence Reserve is among the world's top 5 most expensive rum. In 2012 Jamaica celebrated its 50th anniversary of independence and many Jamaicans (and others) celebrated with this reportedly ultra-smooth and unique, oldest barrel-aged rum ever. Only 80 bottles were produced each at a cost of US$6,630.
